| D.O. PLA DE BAGES A
medieval manuscrit of Miracula Sancti Benedicti ascribed
to Bacus, god of wine, the ethimologic name of the
region, Bages. Derived from Bacus should be Bacasis, and
from Bacasis, Bages, and all together, on account of the
fertility and quality of its wines. White wines and dark
wines accompany the excellent gastronomy of this region.
Among white wines, varieties of macabeu, Chardonnay and,
mainly, Picapoll as an autochthomous variety, are
remarkable. |
